Bringing Back Sustainability Through Family Farming
Welcome to Our Homestead
Welcome to our homestead. Gregg and I have come a long way from those two young kids from the city. Our family of 4 now lives on an 11-acre piece of land in the thumb of Michigan and every year we add a new item to the farm. Over time we have added chickens, goats, pigs, cows, and even bees. Most of the time we have no idea what we are doing (those bees we added… they didn’t survive the first winter) but somehow we still manage to make progress.
Our goal with the homestead is to become more self-reliant and less dependent on outside sources of food. We are not planning on leaving modern society but just aspire to become a little more self-sustainable. We are hoping that by sharing our adventures - good and bad, we can encourage others to be more aware of their food sources as well. Don’t have a farm… buying from local farmers is a way to take control of where your food comes from.
We have a Blog page coming soon with our various adventures. Visit The Barn to meet the animals. Stop and check out the Photos of the farm. Our Buy Local page has items for local pick-up like fresh eggs, bread, vegetables, hay, and other in-season items.
Thanks for being a part of our adventures!
Kathleen
